Once more we have visited The WWT reserve at Welney on the Ouse Washes. We love Welney and it’s not just because the Wigeon Cafe serves excellent cakes! The weather today has been the warmest yet and it made our visit all the more pleasant. Not as many birds as we saw at Titchwell and Frampton Marsh but we still managed to take some decent photos.
We walked back to the centre in plenty of time for coffee and cake. Apart from the cakes one of the best things about the Wigeon Cafe is the view from the picture windows – out onto the reed beds and the feeding station.
Comedy photo of the day has to be this Moorhen peaking through the reeds! Not the largest count of birds but, even so, a really lovely all-round day.
Stunning header shot. The Reed Bunting clinging to the reed is just like you’d expect to see in a reference book!
