We left Threlkeld Hall mid morning and took our pre-determined route up to Oban on the west coast of Scotland, via Stirling instead of Glasgow. The last time we travelled up north we got thoroughly lost in Glasgow, going round and round the same roads until luck took us out of it. A much easier and straightforward journey today with goodish weather to see us on our way.
Near Cumbernauld this comely 33ft tall four-armed mermaid named Arria (designed by Englishman, Andy Scott) guards the city. Apparently she is lit up at night – quite a spectacle I imagine.
We stopped at Loch Lubnaig and Peter created a beautiful roast beef open sandwich for each of us. Yummy!
The snow-topped mountain peaks looked fabulous in the late afternoon sun…
Hang on though…

Oh-oh…
Blue skies and sun. Snow? At ground level? Surely not…
The forecast looks set fair for tomorrow anyway.
On arrival at Oban, we went to the CalMac ferry terminal to collect our tickets for tomorrow morning.

Tea break?
Then off to Seaview Park Camping site in Benderloch, about 9 miles from Oban.

Here we will rest our weary heads until 5.15am tomorrow morning. Yes, you heard me correctly – 5.15am! Well, needs must when the once-a-week ferry beckons. Bed early? Night night…
Great photos!

Glad you had an incident free journey. Enjoy the early morning crossing. We’ve had the weirdest weather down here – bright sun one minute, snow storms the next! Very odd snow too, it almost seemed artificial.

I hope you made your early morning alarm call OK, and have a lovely crossing.
