We were sad to leave Lochside – somewhere I’m sure we’ll come back to. Before we left Skye, however, we decided to pay one more visit to the Blue Shed Cafe – just for cake and coffee this time. My new obsession is now unusual individual post boxes on house walls.
Here’s a couple I took a fancy to:
We said goodbye to Skye and did our last shop there in the Co-op – scenery in carpark!
Over the bridge at the Kyle of Lochalsh…
… and follow our route via Loch Carron and the old railway line which we follow for ages. This photo is a particular favourite of mine.
I love the double tunnel:
At Strath Carron we spotted this curiosity in the car park of the hotel there:

German WW2 army motorbike & sidecar?
We had great weather for the journey as you can see and Ullapool looked stunning seen at quite a distance in its position at the end of Loch Broom (see header as well). A good name for the Loch as the roadside is on fire at this time of the year with gorse (or broom).
Mountains abound of course…
I’m so pleased with this fisherman photo – one man, his rod and his dog…
As you can see, the sunshine has deserted us but no rain thank goodness. We arrived at Clachtoll Beach campsite at about 5pm and settled in quickly. Not in the front row but in a gap at least.
Glad to be here!
Great post boxes! You’re now spoilt for beautiful camping pitches so it’s hard to beat the last couple.

More magnificent photographs. The tunnels remind me of the roads and tunnels around Lake Garda (no railway). The pitches you’ve had have been stunning.

Looks like you’ve had some brilliant weather, it seems to bring out great colour in the photos. I like the old motorbike and sidecar as well!
