Today we have chosen to travel across the Yorkshire Dales towards our next campsite near Garstang in Lancashire. Good decision!

First of all, we passed through Ravensworth again and I managed to take a few more photos of the Castle.

the remaining parts of Ravensworth Castle date from the late 14th century, when it belonged to Henry, 1st Baron Fitz-Hugh. In 1391 he enclosed 200 acres around the castle, creating a park. The castle started to be pulled down in the 16th century, and the stone was used for other buildings in the area.

I don’t think we have ever taken this route before and it was fantastic. Photos speak louder than words so…

How odd to see an Oystercatcher so far from the sea!

The sheep in Yorkshire aren’t as well trained as their Scottish cousins!

We stopped at the delightful village of Thwaite in Swaledale for some refreshment.

We eventually reached Humblescough Farm near Nateby in Lancashire and Bessie found herself opposite a very pretty pond. Click the individual photos to see close-ups of Coot & Son (or Daughter) and the pond at sunset.
