First of all, the featured photo above.  It may be my vivid imagination but does this look like a biblical scene?  This was taken on the northern  Atlantic coast where there is an area of water inside a sandbar.  Today the water was filled with cattle – something we have never seen before.  Could it be the extreme (for Barra) heat that encouraged the cows to take a paddle?  (Note the odd cow escaping up the hill beyond.)  Animals on Barra tend to do their own thing so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was their own idea.

The weather forecasts have been almost monotonous of late and for a change Scotland has  had the laugh on the south-east.  For me, perfect weather – really warm but with a fresh breeze that keeps it all in proportion.  Wonderful.

Lots of photos for today and great to be back on date!  For Dorothy there is a bit of botanical work to do at last…

Down at Castlebay a boat full of passengers began its journey – probably to Mingulay or another far off island.

Lots of photos for today and great to be back on date!  For Dorothy there is a bit of botanical work to do at last… (ok we know the dandelion and we think the yellow is Birds Foot Trefoil but are stumped by the purple one and the tall white flower (en masse and a close-up) which has taken over a small field…
